The coffee maker looks robust and I really like the stainless construction. The Gaggia RI8157/40 is a product that is designed to be stylish and functional.
We tested the Gaggia coffee maker by serving up a range of coffees at our annual fishing meeting for about 30 people. The coffee maker performed very well. It took about half hour to get all thirty coffees out so you are looking at about a minute per coffee on average. The espresso maker itself is very fast, I think Gaggia claims it makes an esspresso in less than fifteen seconds which is about right. The milk frother is pretty quick too and produces a really good thick froth for cappuccinos. The Gaggia RI8157/40 is a excellent example of how Philips are aiming products at your general coffee maker consumer. At a cost of £289.60 (Oct 2010) it is a competitive with other high end coffee makers. I would highly recommend the RI8157 to anyone looking for a high quality barista style coffee maker.
